Mbira master Tute Chigamba and his multi-talented family bring us their first CD of danceable, engrossing mbira ensemble music. These songs are mostly Mr. Chigamba’s own compositions; he doesn’t name them until after they have been accpeted by the spirits in a bira ceremony. The performance is very typical of what what you would hear if you saw them at a concert: lively and energetic to make you want to dance, yet wonderfully harmonious so you easily lose yourself in the music. Recorded live in Harare in March 1996 by Michael Good.
